MacWorld 2009

Call it my second baptism? 2008 was crazy - I witnessed my own conversion from die-hard PC addict to Mac-lover. I completed my conversion by making the adventurous trip to San Francisco for the annual MacWorld convention. It was awesome (minus the $45 cost)!

Highlights:

- Running into Guy Kawasaki (his website). I chatted briefly with him. For anyone interested in entrepreneurship, consider Guy a terrific role model. Look him up on YouTube -- great advice on what entrepreneurship really means and how to have the right attitude going into it.

- Google's booth. After iLife 2009 wowed my socks off, free software made a strong recovery when a Googler demoed the Mac Picasa desktop client for me. Finally, something designed to automate the Facebook image uploading process. I'm already using it and LOVE it. Any Mac/Facebook users, it's a must have. Get it here.

- Live performance from SMULE: iPhone users likely recognize the name. This team created the Ocarina app and was performing as a group in their booth. Check out my YouTube upload.

- Wifi-enabled SD card: I hate wires, so I was really excited to see this at work. One company had enbedded a Wifi chip into an SD card and could wirelessly transfer photos from a digital camera to a computer. It was $80 for a 2 gig card -- too steep for me right now -- but the technology works and I'm looking forward to it becoming popular.

I had a great time attending the conference with my brother-in-law. MacWorld, I'll see you next year!

The Leadoff Hitter: We're back!

The dynamic duo is stepping into familiar territory once again, though it has been a few years since Jose and I last blogged. It seems as though not much as changed in that time. We’re still always in each others head! Our last blog was exclusively baseball-focused, but since the wheels have completely fallen off the A’s buggy, we have decided to emphasize variety in this installment of masterful tag-team banter, affectionately entitled “Ro-Sham-Blog.”

First order of duty: the name. I’ll confess – we wanted Ro-Sham-Bo. It’s the game that can truly decide all, but since someone has already decided to distastefully park that blogger ID, we’ve put a little twist in the name, and frankly, Jose and I love it. We have tremendous respect for the art of Ro-Sham-Bo. Ironically, the two of us didn’t have to use it to decide the blog name, but if we did, I would have won.

So, this blog is about variety--what the heck does that mean? Consider this a "What's on our mind?" blog. Those of you who know us well will expect the topics to be baseball-centric, and you're probably right, but we promise a hefty mix of fun. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on everything from technology, economics, and literature to penny-pinching, and we all know Jose has a ton to blog about. We're most excited about the point-counterpoint banter that's upcoming.

Jose and I have both been accused of starting great conversation about most anything. We want to have fun sharing some of that with you. With that being said, I hereby tee up Ro-Sham-Blog. Enjoy the ride.
